HOW BOUT THAT SUPERBOWL??
Hockey's Back, and So Are
the Devils
More scoring, tons of 5 on 3's, shootouts, no
red line, an unfortunately low amount of fights! Hockey is certainly
back, and this season is much different than the game we are
used to. Like it or not, these new rules have changed the face
of the game dramatically for both fans and players alike, and
it's definitely a period of adjustment all around. This even
goes for the New Jersey Devils.
After a hockey-less 2004-2005 season, the new rules that were
put into play were designed to speed up the game drastically
in an attempt to regain interest and overall popularity of the
sport following the 1 year hiatus. For all of you Devils fans
we know this season and the seasons to follow pose a number
of challenges for the team to overcome. Traditionally a defensive
club, well-known primarily for its tight defensive style of
play, the Devils have been working feverishly to develop a style
that allows them to excel in this new high-paced game.
Currently tied for 6th in the conference, the Devils are beginning
to prove they can hold up and be a force to be reckoned with
in the new NHL. With a few months of adjusting under their belt,
Martin Brodeur and the New Jersey Devils shutout 4 opponents
and won 10 out of 13 games in the month of January. It looks
like Marty will be staying for a while; on Friday, January 27th,
the Devils announced that Brodeur signed a 6 year, $31 million
contract that will just about ensure Marty starting and finishing
his career with the New Jersey Devils. With just over half of
the season played, the Devils have shown their ability to adapt
quickly to the new style and pace of the game. Stay tuned for
more Devils news as the end of the season nears and the playoffs
begin.
Can't get enough
.need MORE Devils?!?
For those fans that can't get enough Dev's be
sure to catch them practicing at Richard
J. Cody Arena at South Mountain (formally South Mountain Arena)
in W. Orange, NJ. Make sure to call the arena at 973-731-3828
first to get their practice schedule. The times and days vary
depending on their schedule, but its well worth the trip. On a
typical week day there is not a large crowd and the players are
very cool with signing autographs after the practice

Hi, my name is Gene and I have a problem........I
am obsessed with the Philadelphia Eagles. This Sunday
marks the 40th Super Bowl. When the 2004 season ended,
I thought "one more step to go".I was born
in Philly, and like the many faithful who follow this
franchise, I am dying for a Super Bowl win. Three years
of losing the NFC championship was tough, after every
loss I said "Next year we take that next step".Last
year we did it, and I was in that stadium when they
put Mike Vick on the carpet time and time again. Next
to my kids being bornI had never felt a feeling like
that in my life. The 2 weeks to Super Bowl 39 were torture,
and then came the game, that was torture too.I lost
a few friends that day while watching the game with
them, but thats how I am, I bleed green.
But enough about last year........
Have you ever seen one
man wreck 52 others? Terrell Owens is the best wide receiver
in football but is also the biggest asshole in the world.I
was thinking about a scathing rant but hes not worth
my time anymore.
Did T.O lose the 2005
season by himself? No, but he sure did help. 13 starters
injured doesn't help either. I've thought long and hard
about next year, and I do believe a healthy McNabb, help
on the D-line and a new outside linebacker will help the
Eagles chances in 2006.I also believe Reggie Brown is
the wide receiver of the future. Is he the next T.O? I
don't know but I think the skys the limit with this
kid.I think the Eagles will hit the free agent market
also looking for another receiver to compliment him.
Is the window closing
for the Philadelphia Eagles? I don't think so, but the
NFC East is rapidly becoming a force in the NFL again
and next yearfor my sake and all those that deal with
me after a loss I hope they return to the form of the
last few years.
As far as this year goes
.I didnt want to go
to Detroit anyway.
Back to the Super Bowl.........
The Steelers in a route.
Give the 4, Take the over.
